How To Move the GNOME App Menu

Upon reading an article on OMG! Ubuntu! about GNOME’s plan to bring the app menu back inside the window, it appears that many users aren’t aware that this option has been available for quite some time in GNOME Tweaks.

The app menu is integrated into the CSD title-bar. (Top Left Icon)

If you want to move the GNOME App Menu inside the menu, all you have to do is go to GNOME Tweaks, navigate to “Top Bar” and turn off “Application Menu”.

If you don’t have GNOME Tweaks already installed, you can do either of the following:

  • Search for “GNOME Tweaks” in GNOME Software (generally comes with Ubuntu and Fedora)
  • Install it through the terminal
    • Ubuntu / Debian / Linux Mint – $ apt install gnome-tweaks
    • Fedora – $ dnf install gnome-tweaks
    • Arch Linux / Manjaro / Antergos – $ pacman -S gnome-tweaks

That’s it!
